Your skin is one layer, any tattoos you may have are on a layer above it, your underwear is another layer above, and your regular clothing is the layer on top. Think of your real body and clothing for a moment. Most commonly you’ll have three other layers to select from when using non skin appliers. You’ll find the skin almost always applies automatically to the lowest layer. Lower layers are hidden by higher layers. Layers allow multiple textures to be worn at once. To understand appliers you first must know about layers. Tattoos, beards, and scars are also textures that can be used via applier, as well as anything else you would want on your mesh body. Some of the more common textures are skins, clothes, and makeup. The applier itself is an object (usually a HUD) that applies a texture to mesh body parts. Think of appliers like classic avatar clothing for mesh avatars (excluding BOM – more on that in this post). Today I’ll go over what they are, how to use them, and why you may want them. If it says nothing about appliers, then assume it's not included. The text should inform you about what's included, and exactly what you are buying. A dress has an applier for the breasts, gloves, sweaters etc. Same goes for clothes, when you wear mesh feet and stockings, you have the stocking as a layer on the leg and a stocking applier for the feet with the stocking texture. If you have a skin with highlights and shadows, you get problems because you have to pick a shade and so it will always be inferior to applying the skin texture. The match is exact, as it's literally the same skin texture, just applied to the mesh feet. So, for example, if you have mesh feet, you use the appropriate skin applier hud to match the add-on mesh feet to the rest of your body, rather than attempting to tint manually. By keeping an eye on sales and fairs, you can score a good deal.Īn applier is a hud, that applies the skin texture of whatever skin it is, to the body part it's intended to go on. It adds up in some money totally, but it is much better than the default avatar. The mesh parts is sold separatly, skin makers make skin appliers, shoe makers make shoes add-ons, clothing designers makes appliers for their clothes. Like ugly feet, hands that look lumpy and has few crude gestures, butts that look flat when you bend, breasts with strange angles instead of a smooth curve etc. They are designed to correct flaws in the default avatars shape. These days, mesh replacement bodyparts are becoming more and more popular. ![]()
